Elevation of Justice KureshiOctober 25th 2019
In a brief hearing today, the counsel for the Petitioners submitted that the Union is yet to notify the appointment of Justice Akil Kureshi. Petitioners pointed out that more than a month has passed since the Supreme Court Collegium approved the appointment of Justice Kureshi as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. Subsequent to the Collegium approval, on September 23rd, the Court had ordered the petitions to be kept pending till the appointment is officially notified.
Despite the submissions of the Petitioners, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested that the petitions be taken up on November 4th. Acceding to the request, the Bench adjourned the hearing to the requested date.
