Assam Accord: Arguments (13.07.2017)

On 13^th July 2017, the Co-ordinator for NRC submitted before the court that the draft NRC could be published on 31^st December 2017, sooner than the date published earlier of 31st March, 2018. The bench wondered if the stand taken by the Co-ordinator was pursuant to the statement made by the Chief Minister of Assam that the draft NRC would be published before or on 31^st December 2017. The court objected to the NRC office being influenced by other authorities but accepted the date of 31^st December for draft NRC publication.
