SC allows CBSE to cancel exams
On June 10 2020, parents filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, seeking cancellation of the CBSE exams scheduled for July 1. Given the urgency of the matter, the Court immediately constituted a three-judge Bench comprising Khanwilkar, Maheshwari and Khanna JJ.
Initially, the CBSE asked for adjournments – first on June 17 and then again on June 23. It convinced Khanwilkar’s J Bench to give it more time, as it had constituted an expert committee to deliberate over the issue. By June 25, the committee concluded that the remaining exams should be cancelled.
