In 2018, the number of pending cases increased by more than 3%, for the period: January 4th 2018 to January 1st 2019. The number of cases pending before the Supreme Court increased from 55,588 to 57,346.

It is important to note that this year’s increase in pendency does not necessarily indicate that pendency will continue to increase in 2019. In fact, if one takes into consideration the previous 5 years of pendency data, it appears as if pendency will continue to decrease.
