Prime Minister Announces Changes to Vaccine Policy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 7th June that the Central Government will shoulder the entirety of the vaccine procurement costs and provide them free to the states for all those above 18 years of age from June 21st. 25% of the vaccines will continue to be administered by private hospitals, with a cap of Rs 150 service charge on top of the vaccines fixed price.
The Central and State Governments will collaborate to implement the new guidelines in the next two weeks. States will still have the task of monitoring the vaccination procedure.
