SCO is dedicated to unpacking the Supreme Court with simplicity, authority, accuracy, consistency and expertise. The team strives to create critical engagement with the Constitution through the Supreme Court.
Sudhir Krishnaswamy conceptualised the Supreme Court Observer in early-2016. He is a co-founder of the Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR). He is currently the Vice-Chancellor of the National Law School of India University.
Previously, he was the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Visiting Professor of Indian Constitutional Law at Columbia Law School. He graduated from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore (B.A. LL.B). He read the BCL and obtained a D.Phil. from Oxford University. He has been a Teaching Fellow in Law at the Pembroke College at Oxford University, an Assistant Professor at NLSIU and a Professor at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. In the past, Sudhir has also worked in the Prime Minister’s Committee on Infrastructure and the Kasturirangan Committee on Governance of Bangalore. He has authored a book titled ‘Democracy and Constitutionalism in India’, which was published by the Oxford University Press in 2009. His main areas of interest are constitutional law, legal education, legal theory, intellectual property law and administrative law.
Vikram Shah is a freelance editor and writer. He was previously Associate Editor at Fifty Two, a digital magazine for narrative journalism and writing. Before that, he was on the copy desk at Mint Lounge. He graduated with a B.A.LL.B (Hons.) from the National Law School of India University in 2014, after which he spent two years at the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, working out of the London and Tokyo offices as a trainee solicitor.
Gauri graduated with a B.A. (Hons.) LL.B from School of Law, Christ University in 2019. She completed her LL.M in Intellectual Property at Bournemouth University in 2020.
Spandana graduated with a B.A. LL.B (Hons.) degree with a specialization in Sociology and International Law from Alliance School of Law, Alliance University in 2019. She was a Fellow at 2nd Cohort of the Goonj Fellowship from 2019-2020. In 2022, she completed her LL.M in Public International Law from Stockholm University, Sweden.
She is interested in Human Rights Law, Feminist Legal Theories, and the interaction between National Sovereignty and International Law.
Advay graduated with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from the Faculty of Law of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara in 2023. He has an Advanced Diploma in Media Laws from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.
Advay is interested in media law, free speech, censorship and privacy.
Sushovan graduated with a B.A. LL.B (Hons.) from the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata in 2024. He was previously fact-checker and researcher at SCO. He has reported longform stories for the Caravan as an editorial and reporting intern.

Leena Gita Reghunath is a three-time national-award winning journalist with 19 years of experience in journalism and law. For her reporting on crime and gender, Leena received the Mumbai Press Club’s RedInk Award in 2015 and 2018, and the Laadli Media Award for 2018.
She has worked as a newsroom leader supervising investigations, raising funds and building audiences across languages and platforms. She was previously the Audience Development Editor and Editorial Manager at The Caravan, and her work has appeared in Al Jazeera, The Caravan, the New Indian Express, The Hindu, the Times of India and Hindustan Times. She is also a lawyer with five years of trial-court experience working as a public prosecutor and civil lawyer in Kerala. She holds a law degree and a master’s degree in English literature.
Joyston graduated with a B.A.LL.B (Hons.) from School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University) in 2022.
Joyston is interested in law and public policy. He enjoys learning about the practical applications of statistics in policy.

S.N. Thyagarajan graduated with an L.L.B from ILS Law College, Pune in 2013. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Asian College of Journalism in 2020.
Aarathi graduated from FLAME University in 2018 with a B.A. in Literary and Cultural Studies and International Studies. She completed her M.Sc. in Modern South Asian Studies from the University of Oxford in 2019.
Malavika graduated from National Law University Delhi in 2018 and obtained an LLM from the University of Chicago Law School in 2021.
She has worked in the areas of judicial reforms, laws on gender & sexuality, and reproductive justice. Malavika is also interested in the business and human rights framework and has written on the role of soft law in ensuring corporate accountability.
Mihir Rajamane is currently pursuing a degree in BA (Jurisprudence) from the University of Oxford. He is a Blog and Article Editor at the Oxford University Undergraduate Law Journal.
He is interested in law and public policy, and their role in providing material benefit to people.
Kruthika R was an Associate Editor at the Supreme Court Observer between May 2020 and July 2021. Previously, she worked for over three years at the Centre for Law and Policy Research on constitution and civic citizenship initiatives and digital human rights.
Kruthika graduated with a B.A. LL.B. from School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore. She is currently an LLM candidate at the Central European University, Vienna as a Masters’ Distinction Scholar.
From 2018 to 2020, Jai Brunner worked as an Associate Editor for the Supreme Court Observer. Some of the cases he reported on include the Ayodhya Title Dispute, Sabarimala Temple Entry and the Constitutionality of Section 377. Jai also served as the primary contributor for SC Observer’s 2018 Statistics Pack.
Jai obtained a BA in Philosophy from the University of Chicago. Currently, he is pursuing an LLB from Jindal Global Law School.
